Who is Michael Gerra?
I have photography in my blood. I am a self-taught photographer. My father – a professional photographer for 15 years in Italy – lit the fire and provided me with years of guidance, encouragement and a critical eye. Photography school would have been a poor substitute.
After over 25 years as an amateur black and white (and color) photographer, I entered the ranks of professional photography in 2002. (I finally turned my back on a technology career and corporate America to pursue my dream).
I have traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, on nothing more than a personal quest to learn about others. It is during these visits to 35 countries, including Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Kenya, China, Sri Lanka and India that I captured many of my images of people, architecture and landscapes. |
